the ides are different in some fundamental concepts (intellij doesn't have workspaces for example) and have a huge difference in features (intellij is the only commercial product, its kinda expected that they have more money and time to devote into developing the ide) for eclipse (couldn't find anything better on their site.)Īfter all, its still personal preference. I suggest you to look into what features all the ides offer you (by their product pages or even better, hands on experience for a few days) and then decide. Visual studio code is nice, but its not really an ide, its more a code editor, similar to sublime, atom. (its really hard to find actually good surveys on that, but you can take a look at for example: after that the market has been shifted and now intellij has gained more market share. that changed when jetbrains released the open source community edition of their intellij java ide. Up until a few years ago, everybody would have recommended eclipse.
